Abstract :
With the aim of realising optical pulse characterisation in the optical communication band at 1.5 μm, the authors demonstrate a highly sensitive frequency-resolved optical gating (FROG) using an organic crystal: AANP-amnD (2-adamantylamino-5-nitropyridine) for second-harmonic generation (SHG). The proposed SHG FROG system is an alignment-free fibre-coupled system with a small insertion loss. The high SHG coefficient of the crystal and low insertion loss of the system allow the FROG error to be reduced below 1% at a peak power as low as 4 W
