Abstract
The various aspects of interaction between a negative ion of oxygen and a donor centre are examined in a series of experimental sequences. It is shown that the interaction is essentially a reversible physical one, involving electrostatic action at a distance. No permanent irreversible action of a chemical kind can be detected within the considerable limits of the experimental method. A model is derived, and this predicts further interaction effects in a satisfactory manner.
