Abstract
We have all heard of the consumer products spawned from the race into space. How many of us coveted our pens that could write upside down and in zero gravity? While the march of space-based innovation continues at a pace, there is a new frontier much closer to home that is also driving engineers to develop novel and highly engineered solutions. These, in turn, are likely to spawn future advances in consumer devices as the drive towards lower power devices and more efficient systems continues to gather momentum.
