Determination of permittivity variations in the troposphere by scatter-propagation methods

An account of an experimental tropospheric scatter-propagation investigation is given. The theoretical background on which the experiments are based is briefly sketched, and the atmospheric permittivity distribution in a general form is discussed in some detail. Finally the results are presented of a set of experiments which are believed to contribute to the general understanding of the conditions in the troposphere which are of importance to long-distance communication.
