Abstract
We propose a wireless receiver architecture that uses a feedforward interference cancellation scheme to reduce the dynamic range requirements in the circuit´s baseband analog-to-digital converter. The cancellation is customized for frequency-shift-keying (FSK)-modulated interferers and effectively suppresses nearby channels interfering with the desired signal. A prototype baseband chip that contains critical blocks of the proposed architecture was designed in 90-nm CMOS. Experimental results show that FSK interferers in adjacent channels are suppressed by more than 20 dB. The experimental integrated circuit dissipates 0.78 mW from a 1-V supply and occupies 0.32 mm2.
