Abstract :
For optimum discriminator detection of PCM/FM with Gaussian IF filter, the error probability is derived and shown to depend only on the signal to noise ratio, E/N0b0¿ where E/N0 is the received (signal-energy-per-bit)-to (noise density) ratio, and b0¿ is the IF bandwidth and bit duration product (b0¿¿1). The error bound and the optimum generalized frequency deviation are discussed.
