Abstract :
This paper considers the scattering of a plane electromagnetic wave incident normally on a perfectly conducting metallic cylinder of infinite length surrounded by a compressible homogeneous plasma sheath in the presence of a static magnetic field in the axial direction. Backward and forward scattering cross-sections for low frequencies are calculated for various parameters. Both the backward and forward scattering cross-sections are sensitive to the changes in temperature of the plasma.
