Abstract
A novel active array antenna for short-range communication applications is presented. Each element of the array consists of a `cold´ MESFET which performs both the ASK demodulator and the DPSK reflection modulator functions and which is directly mounted on a rectangular microstrip resonator. The techniques used to fabricate this active antenna provide good performance at low cost and low power consumption
