Electric process heating for UKAEA works

The paper describes the design and specification of electric heating equipment for the production processes and research and development facilities of the UKAEA. The paper is written from the user´s standpoint, and it describes the influence of user experience on specification, installation, testing and commissioning. Reference is made to the application of sensing devices for process control and for the protection of heaters and vessels against abnormal conditions or maloperation. The paper indicates that the most satisfactory solution to a heating problem will normally result from joint detailed design effort by manufacturer and user, following a full assessment of process requirements and operating conditions.
