Abstract :
A simple analysis is given of phenomena such as electron spin resonance, spin-inversion processes and maser operation in paramagnetic solids. From an examination of the basic equations of motion, a mechanical analogue of these processes is conceived and a working model is described. The model constructed uses a gyroscope suitably driven by electric motors and is capable of demonstrating spin resonance, inversion processes and maser action. A discussion of further possibilities and some implications are also included.
