Abstract :
The 2011 IEEE Information Theory Society Paper Award is awarded to Masahito Hayashi for the paper "Information-spectrum approach to second-order coding rate in channel coding," which appeared in the IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, vol. 55, no. 11, pp. 4947-4966, November 2009, and to Yury Polyanskiy, H. Vincent Poor, and Sergio Verdu for the paper "Channel coding rate in the finite blocklength regime," which appeared in the IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, vol. 56, no. 5, pp. 2307-2359, May 2010.
