Abstract :
The recording density of thin film media is affected by percolation within the transitions. There is some evidence that the presence of low coercivity grains within the films might provide `weak links´ around which percolation nucleates. We have simulated such a system and found that the bulk parameters of films are affected by such grains and more importantly, a dramatic effect on the magnetic microstructure within transitions occurs
