Abstract
Tribological behavior of laser textured disk surfaces depends on shape and size of the laser bumps, number of bumps and mechanical properties of the disk and slider surfaces. An analytical model has been developed to estimate critical number of asperities as a function of bump shape, bump size and mechanical properties of the mating surfaces, which can prevent both stiction and wear. Design curves have been generated for sombrero and donut shaped laser bumps
