Abstract :
The paper presents a relatively simple method for determining the minimal (lowest-dimension) state-vector realisation of a matrix transfer function. The procedure is closely related to the original method given by Kalman, but has the advantage of producing a minimal realisation which also possesses the minimum number of arbitrary parameters.
