Abstract :
Broadband, polarisation-independent intensity modulation based on a lithium niobate phase modulator in a fibre Sagnac interferometer configuration is demonstrated. Residual polarisation dependence is found to be as low as <0.25 dB for low frequency operation, and <2 dB to frequencies of >20 GHz
