Abstract :
This paper reports the static thrust characteristics of a linear oscillatory actuator at low and normal temperatures. The static thrust with respect to position was measured with a variable exciting current. Normal temperature (25°C) was maintained using water cooling, and low temperature was offered using liquid nitrogen. The detent force at low temperature was larger than that at normal temperature. For magnetomotive forces at 5 kA and 3 kA, the static thrust of low temperature was less than that at normal temperature
