Abstract :
A dual-wavelength, actively mode-locked erbium-doped fibre laser is reported that generates pulses each ~68 ps long with a wavelength separation of 0.7 nm at a repetition rate of 2.6 GHz. Temporal-spectral multiplexing of the pulses in the gain medium, rather than careful gain equalisation, is used to reduce the effects of gain competition and obtain wavelength stable, room-temperature operation
