Abstract :
Two advanced and dedicated tools are proposed to analyze the expected performance of multilateration (MLTR) and wide area multilateration (WAM) systems. The MLTR tool provides state of the art Geometrical Theory of Diffraction (GTD) method to support different multilateration algorithms with the evaluation of multipath contributions considering terrain profile, obstacles and system characteristics. The WAM tool provides the possibility to consider different synchronization methods for the evaluation of the Dilution of Precision (DOP) and Position Error (PE) statistical results along flight procedures and within operational en-route domains. The MLTR and WAM tools are both designed to allow tradeoff analysis in terms of number and positions of ground sensors.
