Abstract :
One of the LINK programmes in the field of information technology and communications (ITC), now at the half-way stage, is described. The benefits of collaborative R&D in general, and of this programme in particular, are introduced, making comparisons with other approaches to achieve the same ends. The information provided will be of interest to those active in ITC and also to those seeking funding for any collaborative work. LINK-HPIP projects include ATM networks, multimedia systems and manufacturing control.
