Abstract :
Preliminary results are reported, aimed to evaluate to which extent the field scattered by a breast tumour is affected by the choice of the matching fluid permittivity εf. The female breast has been modelled using highly accurate 3D numerical phantoms, and the forward electromagnetic scattering phenomena is studied via the Contrast-Source integral equation. The analysis reveals the influence of εf on the scattered field is dependent on the morphological characteristics of the breast under consideration.
