Abstract :
The paper presents a method of system reduction based on the evaluation of the projection of a specified vector onto a linear subspace. The method is developed in terms of a linear, discrete-time system, and a dynamic model of a 60MW boiler unit is used as an illustration. The step responses for a number of reduced boiler models are compared with those of the original system. Step responses are also shown for reduced systems obtained by a previously described method of system reduction.
