Abstract :
At the time of writing this editorial, IEEEXtreme 4.0 is still fresh in my memory. What an event! In case you do not know what it is: IEEEXtreme is a 24-hour online programming competition for IEEE student members. On 23 October 2010, around 2,200 student members (744 teams) from all over the world participated in a great fourth edition of IEEEXtreme. The contest results are available at www.ieee.org/xtreme. My sincere congratulations to the winners and thanks to all the people who participated.
