Abstract
This letter presents a new technique for generator protection. The fault-generated transient current signals are detected using a multichannel transient detection unit, then the spectral energies at different frequency bands are extracted and compared to discriminate between internal and external faults. Simulation results show that the scheme demonstrates good sensitivity to low-level and interturn faults
