Abstract :
The paper describes the application of orthogonal systems of functions to the problem of designing digital filters with independent adjustable parameters for the open-loop control of processes. A computational algorithm is given for designing the digital filter and is applied to the problems of process identification and the determination of discrete compensators for optimum closed-loop control systems. Digital-simulation methods are employed to obtain experimental results to illustrate the techniques.
