Method of analysing the properties of 2-phase servo-motors and a.c. tachometers

The paper gives a fundamental treatment of the properties of common induction devices used in the field of a.c. servo-mechanisms. Solutions of the air-gap equation are obtained for conditions of flux forcing and current forcing; the operating condition will, in practice, lie between these two conditions. Comparison data are included from commercially produced servo-components. A consideration of the difficulties encountered in the analytical design of these components is included on the basis of the theory.
