Abstract :
A new time-domain method for measuring the second-order polarization mode dispersion is described and demonstrated. The technique involves sinusoidal amplitude modulation and does not require phase measurement. An accuracy of /spl plusmn/1.5 ps/nm is achieved at 5-GHz modulation frequency.
