Abstract :
This paper deals with the development of a nonlinear programming methodology for evaluating load shedding (LS) as a corrective action to improve the dynamic security of power systems when angle or voltage instability is detected. A centralized corrective control is developed, on the basis of online DSA computations, in order to ensure corrective actions when a threatening contingency actually occurs. The algorithm is implemented and tested on the actual Italian grid managed by ENEL S.p.A
