Abstract
The ratio of the arithmetic mean to the geometric mean is often applied to synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery as a heuristic index of target homogeneity. It is shown that this ratio is equivalent to a cross entropy expression, and can therefore be interpreted as a measure of the information contained within the image
