Abstract
To calculate the magnetic global force on permanent magnets, several approaches can be used with the finite element method (FEM). They are either based on Maxwell´s stress tensor, on the energetic principle or on the equivalent source models. The accuracy of the results for a given mesh is an important criterion for the choice between them. Description and comparison of these methods applied to the calculation of magnetic global forces on rigid permanent magnets (constant magnetization) is done. Results for two different meshes are compared with analytical reference
