Abstract :
I´m glad to receive positive feedback on the tutorial we prepared for the June issue [1]. As Ross pointed out in his editorial comments, the topic was a comprehensive tutorial and review of high-frequency asymptotic (HFA) techniques, including Physical Optics (PO) and the Physical Theory of Diffraction (PTD). The various asymptotic solutions were compared with the exact solution for the canonical problem of scattering by a perfectly conducting wedge (One correction: in Equation (25a), Please replace the “−” sign with “+”). The result was said to be an excellent tutorial on the various methods, and an insightful comparison of their strengths, weaknesses, and ranges of applicability. Thanks for all comments and feedback!
