Abstract :
In a recent paper concerning the potential advantages and otherwise of patterned magnetic recording media, White et al. (1997) refer to “transition” and “statistical” noises. In this brief note, it is pointed out that in the case of an ideal recording medium, these two noises stem from identical statistical considerations
