Abstract :
For pt. I see ibid., vol.4, no.5, p.215 (1990). A successful circuit breaker needs not only a suitable interrupter design but also a suitable medium in which to form and quench the arc. SF6 is increasingly being used in circuit breakers as an alternative to oil and air. The author looks at the impact of SF6 on switching systems including transmission switchgear and distribution switchgear. The effects on monitoring and control are also discussed
