Abstract :
We present a method for calculation of the optical modes in microdisk resonant cavities. The optical field distribution, the eigenvalue equation for resonant wavelengths, and the formula for the Q values of microdisks are established. Numerical results for emitting modes of long-wavelength semiconductor microdisk lasers are presented in detail and compared with experimental data
