Abstract :
The paper emphasises practical aspects of the development of a Monte Carlo model using techniques discussed in a previous paper. The furnace modelled has two heating zones whose temperature and length could be individually controlled. The interactive 3-dimensional model represents the furnace by 30000¿60000 mesh points using a hybrid computer. It is used to study the effect of changing the furnace parameters on the divergence of the final temperature distribution from the desired temperature and flat profile, as material thickness alters.
