Abstract :
A field-particle model has been developed which models the movement of charged particles through a gas under the influence of an electromagnetic field. The operation of the model is illustrated by modelling scattering, ionisation and charge build-up in molecular hydrogen gas at low pressure. Simulation results obtained using typical experimental data give very reasonable agreement with measurements of drift velocity, diffusion coefficients and Townsend´s first coefficient
