Abstract :
This paper deals with the overview of three ground based radar experiments: two scatterometers continuously measuring the backscattering of a temperate tree and of a tropical forest plot and a campaign imaging 10 forest plots with high resolution tomography. The results exhibited some common trends with the presence of diurnal cycles for the Radar Cross Section (RCS) and for the coherence in both temperate and tropical region. The comparison of scatterometers time series and the tomographic campaign showed a higher influence of the geometrical parameters compared with the biophysical parameters.
