Abstract :
The underground cable simulation model discussed in this paper evaluates, accurately and efficiently, numerous budgeting scenarios and their effects on the underground cable reliability and faults. This in turn enables proactive approaches to cable replacement management and a focus on budgeting optimization throughout the duration of the cable replacement project, rather than short term. For utilities with asset management systems, the modeling approach and its results can be integrated into the key strategic element of the asset management plan for underground cable replacement.
