Abstract :
The paper presents a new approach, using the stochastic transition signal-flow graph, for the study of transient in a single-server queuing system with Poisson input, first-come first-served queue discipline. A complete solution is obtained for the state probabilities of the system. Furthermore, the probabilities of waiting and loss, as well as the waiting-time distribution, are determined. The system considered is subject to delay and loss, since the waiting capacity is finite.
