Abstract :
A multi-frequency scheme for annular phased arrays is proposed with the aim of attaining deep and localised heating for hyperthermic treatment of cancers. The concept is investigated using a 520 MHz broadband microwave system including an antenna array of four microstrip spiral applicators. The results of measurements on a heterogeneous saline solution phantom demonstrate the possibility of producing homogenised heating patterns outside the tumour site
