  • Abstract
The 70-year career of MIT´s Harold E. Edgerton is described. Edgerton is the developer of pioneering stop-action photographic techniques and electronic flashes. He developed the strobe while he was a graduate student at MIT. He remained at MIT, becoming professor emeritus of electrical engineering in 1968, after 30 years of teaching electrical measurement and stroboscopic photography. Edgerton has stayed active since his retirement, continuing to teach his freshman stroboscopic photography seminar, sandwiched between scientific expeditions that have had him traveling all over the world.<>
