Abstract :
past five years have been very exciting for the IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology. The Transactions has grown from four issues per year in 1995 and approximately 850 pages, to six issues per year and 2500 pages in 2000, publishing more papers and better quality papers, while maintaining a sound financial condition. The latest data available from the Journal Citation Reports (JRC) shows that the IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology ranks among the top journals in the field of electrical and electronics engineering in total number of citations. The credit for this notable achievement goes to the authors who dedicated themselves to excellence in their work and to the reviewers who donated their personal time and energy to make the peer-review process work. At a time when our full-time jobs make increasing demands on our time, the dedication of our volunteers is indeed inspiring. My deep appreciation for their commitment cannot be overstated. The next five years will be even more exciting for the TRANSACTIONS. As a preview of some of the great things that are in store for the authors, reviewers, and readers of our journal, we have two important announcements. First, as of 1 January 2001, all new submissions to the TRANSACTIONS will be handled electronically. This transition will require the assistance of both authors and reviewers, which will be greatly appreciated. Together, we will ensure that the TRANSACTIONS continues to provide timely publication of work that is of interest to our readers. Second, the Editor-in-Chief welcomes the new Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, Gregory E. Bottomley.
