Abstract :
A novel method, based on the theory of reciprocal sequences, is described for generating a pair of sequences whose periodic convolution is impulsive. It is proved that any binary unipolar m-sequence and its level-shifted bipolar representation form a reciprocal pair. The extension of the synthesis technique to multi-level sequences is then demonstrated, examples of code designs being given to demonstrate the technique. The unipolar sequences can be used to modulate optical carriers
