Abstract :
The complex and relatively undeveloped topic of the application of diakoptics to economic problems is discussed in this paper. The subject is based on the `tearing¿ of the electrical model developed in the companion paper. It consists of the subdivision of a given physical system into a number of independent parts and solving each one by any convenient method. The solution of the original problem is then obtained by interconnecting the divided parts by a routine procedure. The object of the method is to deal with a very large number of variables in a more efficient manner. Results have been obtained on a small system, giving a significant reduction in computation time.
