Abstract
A method is developed for the approximation of an NÃN plant transfer-function matrix by a transfer-function matrix consisting of the linear sum of N frequency-independent dyads with scalar transfer-function coefficients. The use of the approximation method in the design of failsafe feedback-control systems for the plant is described, and an application is suggested in the stabilisation of the radial spatial modes of a thermal nuclear power reactor.
