Abstract :
Moisture content is a key factor for soil in many fields. In this paper, soil spectral reflectance is observed over the whole drying process. The relation between volumetric water content and the depth of the water absorption bands revealsdifferent trends at different bands. The depth of the water absorption band increases with increasing moisture content at some wavelengths and decreases at others. In both cases, a simple linear fitting can estimate and predict soil moisture content from water absorption band depth.
