Abstract :
Using the new definitions and analysis specified in the 2010 version of the IEC standards to calculate impulse parameters, this paper investigates the measurement errors and uncertainties of high-voltage impulse dividers due to their nonideal step response using the convolution method. Measured step responses of three different dividers and a range of practical impulse waveforms were used in the calculations. The obtained results indicate, for the first time, that the uncertainty contribution of a nonideal step response can be estimated with sufficient accuracy for the purpose of measuring practical impulse waveforms.
