  • Abstract
    A method is described for designing coil systems producing Cheb¿shev equal-ripple variation of the axial magnetic field. The off-axis fields of such systems are investigated, and they are found to have advantages over the usual systems for generating uniform fields when a field is required that is uniform within an ellipsoidal, rather than a spherical, volume.
