Abstract
General radiation and frequency-scanning characteristics of leaky-wave antennas of infinite length as well as finite length are described. Analytical expressions for gain, side-lobe level and efficiency of a finite-length leaky-wave antenna, for which the propagation constant does not vary along the length of the antenna, are derived. These expressions may be used to study the radiation characteristics without evaluating radiation patterns. Design data for leaky-wave antennas are reported.
