Abstract :
The authors show that soliton interaction can be reduced considerably by selectively introducing a small frequency shift (~100 MHz) on specific pulses of the bit stream. This technique can almost double the transmission distance of a soliton communication system. The block diagram of an electronic device for implementing the pattern-dependent frequency shifts is also presented
