Abstract :
A method by which the magnetic field near the centre of a solenoid can be made approximately independent of temperature is described. Design details are presented, together with a preliminary experimental result, demonstrating a temperature coefficient of magnetic field of less than three parts in 106 in a solenoid constructed on a metal former.
